The 108° Structure.

An Internet search will confirm that the position know as Zhan Zhuang - shown on the left - is practiced with any number of variations. The reason for these differences is rarely, if ever, explained and it would appear that each practitioner is merely repeating instructions received from his or her teacher.

Around the mid 90's, I began investigating the theories put forward by any number of schools and discovered some quite startling information.

This led me to experimentation with the YinYang Symbol and the Five Elements, and uncovered the relationship of this 'structure' to the Fibonacci Series, the Logarithmic Spiral, Pentagonal Geometry and the concepts of Canonical Proportions (otherwise known as 'Traditional', 'Universal' or 'Perenial' Transmission).

The conclusion of this research is that Taijiquan is based on this matrix. Instead of the "108 Positions/Movements Form", the correct interpretation should the "108° Structure Form".

These concepts are discussed in depth in my book "The Master Key", published privately in 2006 and as such this research is under Copyright Control.
